The 9 Days Northern Circuit Route Trekking Mount Kilimanjaro is the longest, most scenic, and least crowded path to the Roof of Africa. This exceptional Northern Circuit Route Kilimanjaro Climb offers outstanding acclimatization, 360-degree panoramic views, and a remarkably high summit success rate. It’s the perfect choice for trekkers seeking a peaceful, immersive journey on Mount Kilimanjaro.
Your adventure on the 9 Days Northern Circuit Route Trekking Mount Kilimanjaro begins in Moshi with a detailed pre-climb briefing and overnight stay at a comfortable lodge. From Londorossi Gate, you’ll hike through lush rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp, spotting monkeys and tropical birds along the way. The trail continues across the scenic Shira Plateau to Shira 1 and Shira 2 Camps, where magnificent views of Kibo Peak and the western slopes await.
From Shira 2, the Northern Circuit Route Kilimanjaro Trek ascends to Lava Tower (4,600m) for acclimatization before descending to Moir Hut, nestled beneath the striking Lent Hills. The route then winds across the remote northern terrain to Buffalo Camp and Third Cave Camp, offering solitude and spectacular vistas of the Kenyan plains — a signature highlight of the 9 Days Northern Circuit Route Climb.
As the trek reaches School Hut, anticipation builds for the ultimate summit push. Around midnight, you’ll ascend to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) — the highest point in Africa. Watching the sunrise from the top of Mount Kilimanjaro is the crowning moment of your Northern Circuit Route Trekking Adventure.
After celebrating your achievement, descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate to collect your summit certificate. With professional guides, quality camping gear, and diverse landscapes, the 9 Days Northern Circuit Route Trekking Mount Kilimanjaro promises an unforgettable and rewarding experience to the Roof of Africa.
Your adventure begins as you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where our representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi. After check-in, you’ll meet your mountain guide for a detailed pre-climb briefing covering safety, gear checks, and trekking expectations for the Northern Circuit Route.
The evening is free for relaxation at your lodge with stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
After breakfast, drive to Lemosho Gate (about 3–4 hours). Complete park registration and meet your climbing crew before starting the trek through lush rainforest filled with wildlife.
You’ll hike gently uphill under a canopy of towering trees, spotting colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and vibrant birds along the way. The trail leads to Mti Mkubwa Camp (“Big Tree Camp”), your first overnight stop.
Today the trail leaves the forest and ascends into the heath and moorland zone, offering your first panoramic views of Shira Ridge and Mount Meru in the distance.
You’ll cross several small streams and open ridges before arriving at Shira 1 Camp, located on the Shira Plateau — one of Kilimanjaro’s ancient volcanic cones.
A gradual day’s hike across the expansive Shira Plateau, one of the most beautiful sections of the mountain. You’ll enjoy magnificent views of Kibo Peak and possibly spot large antelope like eland.
This day is essential for acclimatization, allowing your body to adjust to higher altitudes. You’ll reach Shira 2 Camp in the afternoon — a scenic spot to watch the sun set behind Mount Meru.
Today is a crucial acclimatization day following the “climb high, sleep low” approach. You’ll trek upward to the famous Lava Tower, a 300-foot volcanic formation.
Enjoy lunch at Lava Tower before descending into the barren alpine desert to reach Moir Hut, a quiet and less-crowded camp nestled beneath Lent Hills.
Begin with a steep ascent out of Moir Valley, passing Lent Hills with optional detours for scenic views. You’ll trek across high alpine terrain, surrounded by sweeping panoramas of the Kenyan plains.
This section of the Northern Circuit Route is tranquil and remote — far from the busier southern paths. You’ll arrive at Buffalo Camp for rest and dinner.
After breakfast, trek over undulating terrain across the northern slopes of Kilimanjaro, with spectacular views of Amboseli National Park in Kenya.
This day offers a steady rhythm, allowing more acclimatization time as you gradually descend to Third Cave Camp, your final stop before the summit approach.
Climb steadily up the northern face of Kibo, traversing lunar-like landscapes of volcanic rock and sparse vegetation. You’ll reach School Hut, located just below Kibo’s summit base.
After an early dinner, prepare your gear and rest for the midnight summit attempt.
Wake around midnight and begin the final ascent under starlit skies. The climb to Gilman’s Point (5,685m) is steep and challenging, but the reward is spectacular — watching the sunrise over the African continent.
Continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement, take photos, and then begin your descent through Stella Point to Millennium Camp for a well-deserved rest.
Descend through lush montane rainforest, enjoying the change in scenery and temperature. At Mweka Gate, collect your well-earned summit certificate before returning to Moshi.
Celebrate your success with a hot shower, delicious meal, and a relaxing evening.

Ludwig F2025-08-22Verified Unforgettable 3-day safari in Tanzania – just perfect! We went on a three-day safari in Tanzania and are still overwhelmed by the impressions. Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish – a big thank you to Richard and his great team! The lodges, rides and overall planning were excellent. Every moment was thought through to the last detail so we could enjoy the safari to the fullest. We were particularly moved that Richard and his team organized my marriage proposal so wonderfully. It was a magical moment that we will never forget, and without the professional and warm support it certainly would not have become so unique. Our personal highlights were the three impressive parks: 1. Ngorongoro Crater – absolutely breathtaking and for us the most beautiful experience. 2. Tarangire – herds of elephants and a wonderful landscape. 3. Lake Manyara – with its special wildlife a perfect end to the trip.We can recommend this safari without restriction – for us it was an unforgettable adventure full of emotions, nature experiences and loving organization. Thank you for this unique experience! Resort247652787152025-08-04Verified Wonderful 7 day Kilimanjaro Trek and 6 day Serengeti Safari with local company. Safari Peak organised a 2 week holiday for my son and I in July. This included transport to/from Nairobi and Arusha; hotel in Arusha, the 7 day Machame camping trek route up Kilimanjaro and a 6 day jeep safari across the Serengeti up to the north for the wildebeest migration.Safari Peak is a local company based in Arusha. They were pro-active and responsive in organising everything. They put together a great team of 13 for the trek: The guides were really helpful, the food for breakfast, lunch and dinner was pretty good for camping around 4000m (we always had too much!) and there was plenty of water. It was an amazing experience overall. For the safari, the accommodation choices were excellent including 3 nights in luxury tented camps in the Serengeti – definitely a recommendation to either wake up watching animals graze, and/or to listen to all the different animals around the tent at night. We saw all the animals the Serengeti is famous for, and a lot of these close up to the vehicle, but my favourite experience was driving off the main tracks, away from other vehicles and just parking up and listening to all the birds and noises, and if your patient the animals too. There was a few moments with the Safari Peak team which made our time in Tanzania feel very special and unique, and we got to feel the warmth of the people who live there. Safari Peak made us feel very welcome in Tanzania and left us with a lifelong impression of the people and country. Overall, I would strongly recommend Safari Peak. From start to finish, this trip exceeded all expectations, and I couldn't have asked for a better team to support me along the way.Sistus was the highlight of the entire trek. He is an exceptional guide—knowledgeable, experienced, and incredibly supportive. His expertise on the mountain and its terrain was evident, but what stood out the most was his calm and encouraging presence. He took the time to ensure that everyone in our group was comfortable, well-informed, and properly acclimatized, offering guidance at every step. His sense of humor and positive energy were a huge morale booster, especially on the more challenging days. The Lemosho Route itself was breathtaking, with every day bringing a new, stunning landscape—dense forests, open savannahs, and the dramatic alpine desert as we neared the summit. The 8-day itinerary gave us the perfect balance of time for acclimatization, which helped avoid altitude sickness and made the whole experience much more enjoyable. The team from Safari Peak did an amazing job with logistics. Our porters were always hard at work, ensuring that our camps were set up before we arrived and that everything was in order. The food was consistently delicious and hearty, and I was amazed at the variety they managed to prepare at such high altitudes. The tents were well-kept, and we felt truly cared for during the entire trek.Summiting Kilimanjaro was an emotional and triumphant moment, and I owe so much of that success to Sistus and the whole Safari Peak crew. Their professionalism, expertise, and genuine care made this once-in-a-lifetime adventure a reality. If you’re looking for an exceptional Kilimanjaro experience, I highly recommend Safari Peak. Ask for Sistus as your guide—you won’t regret it!
