Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha – Welcome to Tanzania

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be met by a representative from Safari Peak Adventures and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Your mountain guide will meet you for a full briefing and equipment check, ensuring you’re well-prepared for the climb ahead. The evening is free for rest or exploring Arusha’s charming local cafés and markets.

After registration at Lemosho Gate, begin your trek through lush montane rainforest, home to colobus monkeys and rich birdlife. This short first day allows your body to adjust while enjoying the pristine wilderness of western Kilimanjaro.
Hiking time: 3–4 hours

The trail climbs steadily out of the forest into heath and moorland, opening up dramatic views of the Shira Plateau. You’ll notice changing vegetation and cooler temperatures as altitude increases.
Hiking time: 5–6 hours

A gentle trek across the expansive Shira Plateau, one of Kilimanjaro’s oldest volcanic areas. This acclimatization-focused day offers stunning panoramic views of Mount Meru and the Kibo peak.
Hiking time: 4–5 hours

A key acclimatization day following the “climb high, sleep low” principle. You hike up to Lava Tower before descending into the scenic Barranco Valley, surrounded by giant senecio plants.
Hiking time: 6–7 hours

Start the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall, a fun and non-technical scramble with incredible views. The trail then continues across ridges and valleys toward Karanga Camp, improving acclimatization.
Hiking time: 4–5 hours

A short but steady climb to Barafu Camp, your base for the summit attempt. Spend the afternoon resting, hydrating, and preparing for the final ascent to Uhuru Peak.
